UPDATE: Master Cleanser-iffic

Posted by Misty on 2009-08-31

I realize I haven't posted very much since the start of the Master Cleanse.  I will update everyone now on the situation...  I lasted 3 days on the Master Cleanse, which was shorter than what I had wanted but overall it was a great experience for my first true cleanse. The juice was easy to drink and make, so I can't complain.  I also had good energy and didn't feel as if I were going to die or anything.  In fact, I felt more focused at my job and with my kids than I h... The Master Cleanse: Day 1 (evening)

Posted by Misty on 2009-08-09

Ok, so I've made it to 9:30 PM.  I've successfully avoided food altogether, drinking only the lemonade.  I've also gone about my normal business - cleaning, cooking dinner, grocery shopping, etc.  I didn't feel hungry at all today.  In fact, I only felt sick twice - once after I went grocery shopping, probably the difference between the heat outside and the cool inside, and another while giving the kids a bath - which was much less than I anticipated.  I really thought I... What is The Master Cleanse (Lemonade Diet) ?

Posted by Misty on 2009-08-09

The Master Cleanse or, as it's commonly referred to, "The Lemonade Diet", is a juice-based fast maintained for a period of 10 days.  It can be done for less, as many people attempt the diet and complete between 1-3 days to start.  Second attempts last up to 5-7 days and by the third attempt, many people are able to make it to the full recommended 10 day span.  Some people can even go longer - up to 20, 30 and 40 days! It's pretty darn simple in terms of what you're s... The Master Cleanse: Day 1

Posted by Misty on 2009-08-09

Surprise!  I'm Master Cleansing. As a part of the normal raw food diet, a fast once every few months is recommended to help continue to rid your body of the toxins built up over time.I found recently that I began to slip back into old habits, so I've decided to regain control and embark on a mission that not many people can accomplish successfully.  Rather, many people HAVE accomplished this task - it just took them a couple of tries to do it.I did my research and read many acco... Back to raw, ready to face the day...I think.

Well, I'm back to raw and ready to start the day...I think.  Yeah, yeah I'm ready.  Wait...We've all had one of these days.  You know, the "first" day back on a plan.  An idea.  In my case, a freaking mission.  Yes, I may be a goofball.  I might code websites for a living and enjoy documentaries and calculating profit margins, but darnit I'm a determined woman!Today I got up early, made my green juice, sucked 'er down in record time (enjoying every last sip) an... Out making bad decisions. Please leave a message. UGH

Misty!  Where have you been??Well, to all of my fans (the meager few who are listening in), I've been out making some horrible decisions lately, none of which I'm proud of, but all of which I'm about to own up to.Over the past week and a half, I've had every excuse in the book for my irrational behavior, including:

Money is tight, can't afford Whole Foods
Summer college semester is coming to a close, finals on the horizon, no time to plan or uncook
No... Keep Reading

What is Spirulina?

What is Spirulina?

I was surfing around on the web today for more information on my new raw diet lifestyle, when I came across a thread of people discussing something they called spirulina.  I wasn't exactly sure what they were talking about, but it seemed that they were trading recipe secrets on how to implement spirulina on a daily basis without gagging yourself.  Instantly, I was curious.I did a little research and found out not only why they were using spirulina, but also why it sounded like so... Pineapple Can Be Painful

Pineapple Can Be Painful

Ever eaten a pineapple and thought, "Hmmm, this thing hurts my tongue a little bit"?  If so, you're not alone.
Making the transition into raw foods has definitely led me into fruits and exploring new flavors.  Since I live in Miami, Florida, I have access to a load of tropical fruits including papaya, mango, pineapple and guava.  I've tried all of them, but I'm in love with pineapple.
Over the course of a few weeks, having pineapple in small amoun... Keep Reading

Eeek! Could the raw food diet and hair loss be related?

Eeek! Could the raw food diet and hair loss be related?

In the past six weeks, I've noticed that my hair has begun to fall out.  Lightly at first, drawing not attention, then slowly the momentum began to build.  Today was what I'd like to call my "last straw" with this hair loss thing.  After pulling clumps of hair out while trying to wash this morning, then after as I began to comb it out, I nearly broke down in tears.
As a rawbie, making this transition has not been easy.  I've had mess ups.  I've blu... Keep Reading
