Unsweetened Organic Cocoa Powder

I read once that great food comes from great ingredients - so why waste your time on anything less?
When I first decided to go raw, I knew I would need some substitutes for my everyday vices, such as chocolate, milk, bread and sugar. Of course, for any woman in her right mind, chocolate is on the top of my list in terms of sweet snacks and satisfying desserts. For me, just a bit of chocolate will keep me happy for hours. It was important, then, that I find a recipe I could live with and create easily.
Lucky for me, I found one. On one of my favorite blogs, I'mSoRawkin', I found this amazing recipe for raw brownies. It called for Unsweetened Organic Cocoa Powder, and she recommended Green & Black's. For me, there was no alternative; it had to be good. Since Green & Black's are known for their excellent organic chocolate, I had a mission to find me some - and I did.
The Whole Foods must read my mind, because they had the Green & Black's ready for me when I arrived. The little round aluminum can was staring up at me as if it knew it would be coming home. Sure, it wasn't cheap, ringing in at $8.99 for a can around 4 inches tall, but I knew it would be worth it.
I was so right! This cocoa powder is second to none. The flavor is impeccable, not too bitter and just right for mixing with all sorts of things from homemade raw chocolate syrup to hot chocolate (almond milk, sweetener of your choice and cocoa powder) as well as my delicious raw brownies. I not only use this cocoa powder in baking - I also use it when I want to add a little flavor to something I'm cooking, such as a sauce. More on that in the recipes section!
Hands down, this is a great place to start if you're just beginning a raw lifestyle. I'll be trying more unsweetened organic cocoa's to be sure that this one is the best, but for now, it's in my pantry and I'm keeping it there!
